January 20th 2017 was the first day of incredible change for our country. Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of The United States Of America, and it was but the first victory of many for the coming year. President Trump’s inauguration was met with Conservative cheers, Liberal tears, and many apprehensions on both sides. After one full year of President Donald Trump in office, lets take a look back at some of the things he accomplished for America in 2017. Arguably the most successful year for Conservatives in decades, we’re going to talk about what exactly Donald Trump has done in his first year.
War On Unemployment
Unemployment levels plummeted to 4.4 percent within the first few months of Trump’s presidency, the lowest percentage since May 2007 just before Barak Obama took office. And by July of 2017, unemployment rates were at 4.3, the lowest since 2001. For the first time in nearly a decade, an American President has shown more interest in jobs for the American people than in forcing a celebration of decaying morals and skewed lifestyles. America First became his policy, and American citizens were finally being treated with the respect that President Obama shamed them for wanting.
Strengthening The Government
The last time there were this many Republicans in the House of Representatives, Calvin Coolidge was in office. President Trump appointed Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch to uphold Constitutional law in the upper courts, and there are currently 12 confirmed appeals court judges in the works. Trump has not only worked hard to enact change for the better, but he has worked hard to fill positions of authority with republicans who will do it, too.
By appointing so many constitutionally-minded politicians, Trump is ensuring the protection of American freedoms to last much longer than his presidential term(s). Strengthening our government is one of the most important things President Trump has done in 2017, and we hope he will continue to do so throughout the next three years.
Consumer Confidence Index, a metric assessing how ordinary consumers feel about the strength of the economy, hit 125.6 in March 2017, its highest point since 2000. The boldness of President Donald Trump, combined with his ability to make good on his promises to the American people, has worked to restore the faith and determination of this country’s citizens.
Donald Trump has made it clear that his policy is, and will remain, America first. Patriotism over patronization, our President is working to restore the sense of pride in American culture that has been shamed by Barak Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, and many others.
Restoring a sense of pride and security to Americans everywhere is an impressive feat, but President Trump has been working hard to accomplish just that, and the numbers only prove it.
UN Ambassador Nikki Haley
Nominated by Donald Trump on November 23rd 2016, Nikki Haley was the perfect choice to represent The United States of America to the United Nations. She was confirmed by the Senate with a 96-4 vote, and sworn in on January 25th, 2017. Kicking off her ambassadorship with a powerful statement, she told the UN that America will “have the backs of our Allies, and make sure that our Allies have our back as well. For those that don’t have our back we are taking names, we will make points to respond to that accordingly.”
She has handled threats from North Korea and condescension from the United Nations with poise, dignity, logic, and a cool head. She has insisted the American goodwill is recognized and respected, and has represented America in all of the ways it’s citizens hoped for.
Nominating Nikki Haley for Ambassador was a brilliant move by President Trump, and it is a move that is paying off very well for the USA.
Naming Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel
“Today we finally acknowledge the obvious: that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital,” President Trump announced on December 6th 2017, “This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. It’s something that has to be done.”
President Trump is taking a strong stand alongside our Israeli allies, and he refuses to enact the same policies and tactics that his predecessors have used to try and reconcile the Israelis and Palestinians, policies and tactics that have inarguably failed every time they were used. Instead, he is taking action to restore to the Israeli’s what is rightfully theirs, and to drive his point home, he is moving the American embassy to Jerusalem.
Guatemala has also announced moving its embassy to Jerusalem, showing the world that American Allies can stand with us or against us, but we will not be shaken or moved by opposition.
UN Budget Cut
After more than 100 UN members, including some of America’s closest Allies, voted to condemn President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital, Ambassador Nikki Haley threatened to cut back on contributions. After resolute determination and tense negotiations, the Trump Administration announced a $285 million UN budget cut. The United States contributes 22% of the UN’s budget, and 28% of the peace-keeping budget. Ambassador Nikki Haley stated that- “We will no longer let the generosity of the American people be taken advantage of or remain unchecked.”
In making a UN budget cut, President Trump and his administration are making it very clear that they will stick by the policy America First. They are taking a stand against the nations that have walked all over American ideals, unhindered by Obama or his administration. America and the Trump Administration want to align with countries and support the networks of the world, but only if those countries will also respect and align with America.
The Tax Cut
President Trump made his promises regarding taxation in America, but unlike many Presidents of our past, he is now making good on his promises. What he terms as “the largest tax cut in the history of our country” was passed by the Senate on December 12th, giving relief to not only Americans, but the businesses and companies that are the result of the American Dream. This means millions of dollars in tax cuts for citizens of the United States, and a heavy hand of oppression lifted from the backs of the American people.
These are not the only things President Trump and his administration have worked for and accomplished in 2017. The stock market has had a 35% increase, and has boosted the prosperity of the American economy with gusto. Trump has not held the American military back, and ISIS is diminished and on the run. The Trump Administration has strengthened USA relations with China, Japan, Russia, and the UK while remaining tough on North Korea and Syria. President Trump has withdrawn the USA from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, revived construction on the Dakota Access Pipeline, and reversed Obama’s “land grab” EO, allowing the USA to use her own natural resources. Illegal border crossings from Mexico into America and deportation of violent and repeat offenders has dropped by 40%.
President Donald Trump has not wasted a day of his time in The White House, and is working tirelessly- as he told us he would- to make America great again. 2017 is just the beginning of a political revival, promising better days ahead for Americans everywhere.
